Please join us for our fall Book Club with the Author, when we will be hosting Kaie Kellough to discuss his novel Accordéon! If you've read a book and wanted to talk over what you thought and your questions with the author themselves, this is the event for you.
Accordéon is an experimental novel, a piercing deconstruction of Québécois culture, an ode to Montréal--a city where everything happens at once and all realities exist simultaneously. Against a satirical Ministry of Culture set on quotas, preservation and containment according to its own cultural code, Kellough weaves voices and images from the margins to probe collective fantasies of Québec old and new.
Kaie Kellough is a novelist, sound performer, and poet. His novel Accordéon, published in 2016, was shortlisted and written about. His work migrates between poety and fiction, between Canada, South America, and the Caribbean, and between text and sound.
Our Book of the Month for October is An Absolutely Remarkable Thing, by Hank Green. This debut novel looks at the modern nature of fame, social media, and dealing with the unknown through the tale of April May, a young graphic artist who kicks off a bout of worldwide hysteria when she accidentally makes first contact with an alien. The book is a thrilling, modern adventure that cares about our humanity, especially when confronted with remarkable things.
As always, we're offering a 15% discount on our Book of the Month, through the end of October (while supplies last). We even have a limited supply of signed copies!
